SMAT Hands-On Training

Six Metrolina SMAT volunteers completed the Hands-On Training on Saturday, March 26th at the MHPC Warehouse. The day began with constructing the I-20 Western Shelter. Once that was completed, the team constructed the vestibule and attached it to the already standing 1935 Western Shelter. With the two tents connected and able to be functional, the team then went through the take-down process. The I-20, 1935 Western Shelter, and vestibule section were all deconstructed and packed for the next hands on day.  In addition to base camp operations, the volunteers also explored the M8 and its capabilities as a disaster resource. The team also briefly learned about HAZMAT safety in the warehouse and on possible deployments.
